- STABBED THE JO KER.Mark Niece Slashed Elmer Foker in Abdomen When Foker Made HimButt of Joke.Mark Niece, a well known characterabout this city, stabbed Elmer Foker*in the side and abdomen, Saturday niglit, vwhen Foker refused ro desist making him the butt of all his jokes.-Niece was loafing around the L. E. W. water tank about twelve o'clock, together with Foker and a number of other young fellow^, Foker seemed insistent in his desire to make Niece angry,4‘kidding” him and, it is said, made a few remarks which justified Niece’s resentment. Niece warned him time and again to desist, but the hot fire kept up until Niece lost his head, pulled a knife from his pocket and started to slash Foker. He cut him a few times in the side and abdomen, but did not seriously injure him. An officer was hastily called and Niece was placed in the county jail. Sunday he was haled into Justice Ewing's court, but agreeable to desire of Prosecutor Mattice the case was postponed until today.
