—'TIT El R TRAVELS,Harlan, July 17.—I had an interview to-day with the I*olk City murderer, William P. Iltirdy, and by the use of a seetional map traced the course of the desperadoes as follows! They left Burton, Bates county, Missouri! July 1, from there to Kansas City, thence by rail to Council Bluffs, thonce to Atlantic, where they staid all night with Crawford’s sister ; from there by rail to Des Moines, thence to Boonesboro, whore they staid two days. From there they countermarched, leaving the railroad and going on foot south to Polk City. After committing the murder they crossed the river into Dallas county, passing through Des Moines towns!)ip north of Perry, thence west’ through Greenes county to ’Coon Jtupide; changing their course south from there they passed into Audubon county. Passing from the northeast to the southwest corner, striking Shelby county at Klkhn n grove, where they were captured. Excitement still runs high. The jail is strongly guarded. Sheriff Littleton, of Polk county, and IS. H. Crane, of Polk City, are here, also a brother in-law of Stubbs. Don’t think the prisoner will be removed. Had preliminary examination yesiorday. Charged with murder of Maddy and Halkirk. Waiyed examination and remanded to jail without ball.
