The Jasper police chief, who Friday night allegedly shot a local resident twice in the leg in apparent self-defense, has Ihh'ii susjiended from duty pending an investigation.Jasper County ('hief Deputy Jerry Neil said Monday the county will handle Jasper police calls until the investigation is concluded.Neil said Charles Rodehush, a Jasjer resident, entered the -Jasper police station at 8:;!8 p.m. Friday and allegedly became loud and irate. Jasper Police Chief Bill Hulstine told deputies that he believed that Rodehush had pullet! a weapon.Rodebush allegedly struck Hulstine several times with his hands and a fishing pole he was carrying.Chief Hulstine fired two shots which entered and exited Rode-bush’s leg. Neil said.Neil said Rodebush left the station, and Hulstine called deputies for assistance. A deputy found Rodehush several blocks away near Judy’s Cafe. A Jasper ambulance transported Rodebush to McCune-Brooks Hospital. He was released today.Hulstine, complaining of head injuries, was taken to McCune-Brooks and later to Freeman Hospital. He was treated and released.
