2 Negroes Dead And 2 ArrestedTwo negroes were killed last night on the road near the John Longmire ranch in Lee county, south of Rockdale. and this morning two other negroes are in jail at Giddings, charged with the deaths.The negroes had been working on the highway near Tanglewood. and were all being carried home on a truck It is reported that Leonard Marion became involved in a dispute with his son-in-law. James Morrison, and that Marion shot Morrison, killing him instantly. He also shot A. D. Morrisonin the hand when he allegedly grab- ; bed the gun after Marion had shot his c son-in-law. jEd and A. D. Morrison were then • alleged to have taken a club or an c iron bar and beat Marion to death. His skull was crushed, and his face ; battered and mutilated beyond recog-nition. fWhen Sheriff Allen of Giddings ar- c rived at the scene of the killings later ! in the night, he arrested Ed and A D. * Morrison and carried them to Giddings. * where they were placed in jail. 11
