Alleged Murderer, Long Sought, Thought Held InChicago For RequisitionJACKSON, July 16.—An alleged negro murderer from Carroll county, who has escaped the arms of the law for nearly three years, has been arrested in Chicago and extradition papers went forward to that city today.Eugene Brewer, convicted in November, 1928, of shooting into a crowd of people leaving a church and killing Alma Jordan, a whitewoman, is held by Chicago authorities, according to word received here.Brewer is also wanted in Carroll county for shooting at the officer who came to arrest him on the [murder charge, according to Sheriff J. T. Allen of Carroll county.A brother of the negro, Lanier Brewer, wanted for burglary in Leflore county, also is sought in Chicago and advices received here indicate he, too, is being held. jA requisition for the negroes, is-, sued some time ago, was kept secret by Governor Bilbo at the request of the sheriff, who declared that he had located the negroes several times before, but that they had “hiked out” before requisition papers could be served.Details of the killing, which allegedly took place August 3, 1928, were not available here.-n -i
