AN ASSAULT IN THE DARK CORNER.John Yealey Beats Joe Osborn Unmercifully With a Club.ccA Warrant for Hi* Arrest Issued and Constable Dennison Goes After Him.' i*1An affair took plaQe yesterdayevening in the famous “Dark Cor- i,!ner,” which it is feared produced a; broken skull for one of the parties to it—Mr. Joe Osborn. The particulars as told the Hf.rai.d are about as follows: Osborn owned some water barrels, which on moving to Peters-ville some time since, were left at his old home, close to Yealey*s. about one mile south of Xewbern. Yealey had taken the barrels and has been using them. Lately Osborn removed back to his old place. Yealey yes- j; terday had one of the barrels on his wagon in which to haul water to supply the boiler ol a thresher which was threshing wheat for John Ham. Osborn was one of the hands assisting in the work. On quittingwork last evening Osborn told Yealey that as his wife wanted her barrel for rain water, he would just take it along home with him. Yealey objected, and a quarrel, finally an assault, followed. Yealey seized a club and dealt Osborn several blows over the head. Finally the fight was stopped and Osborn went or was taken home. It does n’t appear that Yealey was hurt. This morning by six oclock, Mr. Osborn’s father, George Osborn was in town, swore out an affidavit before Esquire J. S. Brown, charging Yealey with assault and battery with intent to commit murder, a warrant for Yealey’s arrest was issued, and constable Dennison left at about 7 o’clock to arrest him. At 2 p. in.he not returned. Mr. Osborn states that his son’s skull is broken.
