Noel D. Martin, 32, of Roundrockin Williamson county, was fatallyinjured by a gunshot wound inflicted in the yard at the home of his father in law, Lonnie Heard near Conoley around 11:00 p. m. Tuesday.Mr. Heard was placed under arrest by Sheriff Carl Hlack and was leing held in the county jail here ponding execution of a bond in the sum of $2000 it was said by County Attorney Hill Morrison. An invesigation was had early Wednesday by Mr. Morrison who assembled facts in the case, he told Tin* Daily Herald. The charge, he said would be murder without malice.Sheriff Hlack gave details of the trouble that led to the shooting. He said that the Heard home is located one mile from the Conoley store and that Mr. and Mrs, Collins and their 2 year old son had been visiting in the Heard home. Around 2 p. m. Mr. Heard and his son-in-law left the farm to go to Thorndale to sell somegrapes. On the way, according to the story, they quarreled and while in rhorudale they drank heei and quarreled again. Around 10 p. m. they left the city to reutrn to the Heard home and quarreled on the way home.When Beard and Collins arrived at tin' farm home, the latter told i J Mrs. Collins to get ready and they * I would leave for their home at Rounder rock at once. Accordingly they left y j but after they had reached a point a short distance from the farm home, Collins turned hack. As they entered the yard Heard, according to officers, shot Collins in the chest with a 12 gauge shotgun.Collins was taken at once to Thorndale by a car and from there was taken to Taylor by ambulance but died shortly after arrival at a Taylor hospital.Trouble and bad feeling had been plaguing the family for years, it was said, dating back tlt;» a fight that occured between Colling and his brother-in-law, a son of Beard's.
