A public meeting called by the city commission on the sheriff’s bid to contract for city law enforcement, ended after an hour when Mayor Bud Mims ruled that discussion was getting nowhereIn the regular city commission meeting. which followed at city hall, commissioners voted to table the matter for further study.“We came into this meeting to hear a discussion on both sides of the question,’ Mayor Mims said “So far we have heard only speeches favoring one side (Chief Sedillo and the city police) and no chance to hear information on the other side of the question This meeting is adjourned.”The meeting had been called for 5:30 p.m. in the city commission chambers, but because of the size of the crowd it was moved to the convention Center.
