Johnsonst., and eluded a police dragnet by speeding away in his red panel truck, narrowlymissing some of the scores ofpersons in the apartment-areashopping center..King was arrested at gunpoint by Deputy Sheriffs Ernest Ferch-lond and Eldon Johnson near the entrance to Edwards Park on Highway 51, after he abandoned his truck on capitol square and attempted to eschpe in a car taken from his son-in-law’s Monona home.Admits Being At ScenePolice said King admitted being at the death scene, talking to Mrs. Jackson and her husband, and with having a gun, but he claimed that she shot herself.He was taken immediately to University of Wisconsin laboratories for paraffine tests which officials said they were “sure” would reveal gunpowder on his hands which would prove he hadfired the gun.King did not have the deathgun in his possession when arrested.According to eye-witnesses of the shooting, Mrs. Jackson walked from the grocery across the street to where her husband was sitting in their parked car.The husband, Julius J., who is, paralyzed as a result of injuries jreceived in World War I, shouted a warning to his wife that King was sitting in the back seat of their car.MRS.
