Friend PersuadedSurrendersBreakPoliceFillingStationA man who police say broke into a filling station surrendered to officers early Sunday morning.Charged with grand larceny is William L. Harvey, 25, of 502 E. Woodland.The break-in occurred at Mayhugh Service. 435 E. Main, sometime between midnight and2 a.m. Sunday.Sgt, Harry Capell, on patrol, Mayhugh told officers that (duty, found the door to the sta-j about 5 a.m. Sunday, after ha tion open, and the glass in it;had gone home from the bur-broken. Inside, the cash regis- glary scene, he received a callter had been rifled, there wassome money on the floor, andofficers said they found blood .Hie damage, tofrom the thief, offering to return the money, and pay forindicating the thief had been injured.Jim Mayhugh. the owner, said about $40.75 was taken.Mayhugh advised the callerto give himself up, that thematter was in the hands of officials.Harvey walked into the station a short time later. He had $ severely cut arm. In a signed statement, he said he laad broken the glass from the door,cutting his arm when he reached inside to unlock it. He then kicked the door in. he said. After taking the money, Harvey said he drove aroundwith a friend. This friend, persuaded him to surrender, hesaid.However, before he walked into the station, a pickup had been issued for Harvey. Police said information gathered bv Officer Elmer Collier indicated he should be questioned about the burglary.
