The Wets started the ball to rolling by filing a petition on last Saturday evening for a local option election. The petition contained 462 names which is, at least, 100 more than enough to make it a valid call. The commissioners granted the petition and set the election to be held on Monday July 28.Many names seemed to appear twice on the petition and many who had signed W’ere chagrinned wThen they found they were classed with the Wets, they having signed thru a misunderstanding of what the petition purported to be.As soon as it was learned that such a petition bad been filed, the Dry forces, got busy and a meeting was called for Monday evening in the M. E. Church. Tho the notice was short, nearly 100 men were present with the proper kind of enthusiasm to start their campaign of victory. The meeting was called to order by Henry' Sicks. Addresses were made by several citizens, among them O. H. Carmichael, S. N. Cragun, D. L. Creath Rev. Kirk Waldo Robbins. Joe Witt, Rev. Z. C. Mower. A committee consisting of Morris Ritchie, Wm Means. Geo. Hogshire, Rev. Frank L. Hardy, and Rev. A. W. Cash was appointed to nominate a list of officers and an executive committee.Geo. J.
