• _Murder at Austin*C. Don Banfleld was intoxicated last Friday night when he entered the barroom of the White Honse hotel at Austin, Potter county, and began to demolish the furniture. Arthur Gordiner, the bar-tender* waited until Banfield had smashed pretty much everything in sight, and then followed him outside.Banfleld entered a livery stable nearby, and as he turned to come out Gordi-ner fixed the first shot, which missed •Banfield entirely. Gordiner then fired .again, the ball taking effect in Bahfield'a head. The third shot struck the breastbone a little above the heart, and anaed death instantly..Gotdiner baa been around Potter conn ty for some time and has the reputation of Jbeiog a “bad man.” Banfield was about 35 years of age and bad resided in Austin for the past two years. . He issurvived by a wife and five children.A cotxraerV inquest was held at10 a. pi, Saturday, and Gordiner was held for-- a heating Monday.
