The idea eame to the two men in 1958 when they were directing the sales force of Warner Brothers Records. By 1962 the pair decided that selling LPs was less fun than whosesalingbooks.Together they have 51 years of experience in the distributing of books and recordings. The staff of 30 employees has another 49 years of experience.Woodruff, who established anational reputation for superior know-how of book distribution while with Doubleday for 27 years, summed up the concept of RBC:“Our experience in the re-K ti c i n n c er 6mnhf1sq. ft.In the serving of 650 retail■s in the western states (although RBC has customers all over the nation), Raymar stocks about 20.000 titles from 125 major publishers and handles about 2’4 million copies each year.Raymar uses the person-to-person specialized telephonesoiling plan. Once or twice each week—depending on the season—each of 30 major accounts gets a scheduled call from Raymar representative.retail buyer makes known his exact needs of the moment and for the next eightdays.
