R/L. Selders, Eagle Lake Negro, was- accidently shot in . the rightshoulder with a .22 caliber rifle and Nathan Usher was cut on the face and .-back with, a-knife and bott3.e during the affray. ••- Usher Tired the : .22 rifle during the escapade, apparently at Pearl Garrett- and - her brother, John Henry. .Wheeler, ; but s. missed - and struck. Selders in the right shoulder, After firing the shot, the Garrett woman and Wheeler /attacked Usher with a bottle and knife, respectively.Two other men who were involved., in the fight, John James By-* ars and . Melvin ..Williams, . were charged with fighting in Justice of the Peace R. K. Jackson’s , court in Columbus and were given fines of j $100.00 each and costs.Selders was admitted to Laugh-lin Hospital. After medical treatment, Usher was confined to the County jail pending his trial, Highway Patrolman Tom Halbert was the first to arrive at the scene. Chief Deputy Sheriff M. H.
