C. Bumguardner. were slain at Menard.Sheriff Cecil Walston said evidence indicated Bumbuardner shot his wife, and Charles then shot Bumguardner.The shooting occurred late yesterday at the home of Mrs. Bum-guardner’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Waddell, sr., members of a Menard ranching family.Mrs. Bumguardner was shot once in the face with a shotgun as she lay on a bed and Bumguardner, San Angelo service station operator, was shot four times —three times with a rifle and once with a shotgun.Moved From VernonThe Bumguardners moved here a year ago from Vernon and last winter leased a service station near the Lone Wolf bridge. Mrs. Bumguardner, who had been in a hospital here recovering from a major operation, was taken to the home of her parents Wednesday. She was accompanied by Charles.Bumguardner, who was at liberty here on $500 bond after he had been charged with aggravated assault, late Wednesday told friends he was going to the valley for a load of produce and at 5:30 o’clock appeared at the Waddell home in Menard. The shootingfollowed.Funeral services for Mrs. Bumguardner are to be held in Menard tomorrow morning.
