Glidden mansentenced forforgery, trespassA Glidden man who pleadedguilty to forgery and second-degree inal mischief has received asix-year suspended prison sentence.iam Dale Heuton, 25,pleaded guilty to the charges earlierthis vear.*Heuton was originally charged with third-degree burglary for breaking into a neighbor’s residence and making long-distance telephonecalls in December 1995. He was also charged with two counts offorgery for writing checks totaling$262 on two other people’s accounts.On Monday, Carroll County District Court Judge Ronald H. Schechtman sentenced Heuton tofive years in the state prison system on the forgery charge and the criminal mischief charge.The five-year sentence was suspended and Heuton was placed at a residential facility in Fort Dodge.Heuton was fined $250 plus a 30 percent surcharge for the criminal mischief offense.Schechtman also revoked Heuton’s probation for a previous criminal mischief charge. On June 8, 1995, after pleading guilty to f o u r th - degree criminal m i sc h i e fwas amended from secon d-degree criminal mischief), Heuton was sentenced to 180 days in the Carroll County Jail and placed on 18 months’ probation.Schechtman reinstated the 180-day sentence and sentenced Heuton to an additional year in the Carroll County Jail. The judge suspended all but 210 days (70 for each offense). The sentences commenced Tuesday and are to be served concurrently. The sentences could be reduced by as much as half due to good conduct and work credits, and Heuton might be eligible for parole.He was credited with 14 days a 1-ready served. Heuton will be released from jail two days a week to attend A A with a sponsor.Heuton was also placed on probation upon the following conditions: that he continue substance abuse and mental health counseling, luding sex offender therapy andAlcoholics Anonymous; that heobey the law; and that he abstain from consumption of controlledsubstances and alcohol.Heuton was ordered to pay court costs and fees for a court-appointedattorney. Bond on appeal was set $ 11,000.
