Man charged in Raton slaying flees jailRATON, N. W. w - Policeare searching for Albert Lucero, who escaped from the Colfax County Jaif in Raton Saturday evenirg,Colfax County Sheriff’s Department officials said the 25-year-old prisoner is charged with murder and also awaiting trial for burglary and laiceny.They said he apparenlly escaped by chipping some bricks away from a window in Lhc fifth floor jail in the countycourtbousD with some kind of instrument.They said Lucero apparently climbed out on a ledge and somehow managed to reach lhe ground and flee.Lucero was arrested inDenver, Colo., last month in connection with the May 21 slabbing death of Lorenzo Lucero in Raton. He was out on bail on on curlier charges of larceny and burglary al the lime of that arrest.
