More than 130 copies, including instructions for educators and counselors, were sent to Israel during the Persian Gulf War to help Israeli children deal with scud-in-duced stress. The “Feelings” chart was reproduced in Hebrew so that copies could be sent to Israeli schools for use with younger Israeli children. The chart was translated by community shali-ach Shalom Norman and calli-graphed by local artist Julie Pentelnik. The special Hebrew edition is sponsored by the Social Action Task Force of Rockdale Temple and coordinated by the Jewish Federation’s Israel Programs Cabinet.“The ‘Feelings’ chart is a wonderful tool both for dealing with stress as well as learning about language and culture,” according to Joe Speier, president of Creative Therapy Associates. “It can also be used in Hebrew classes in the United States.”“We hope we will be able to distribute the poster in Israel,” Speier told The American Israelite. His company, CTA, of which Borgman is also an owner, has negotiated distributionagreements in Australia and Canada for the poster and other therapy aids.An additional 500 copies of the Hebrew version of the “Feelings” chart will be sent to Israel with the Mitzvah Mission of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati in the fall of 1991.“It’s wonderful to know that the Cincinnati community had the tremendous concern about Israel and Israeli kids in times of crisis,” added Norman.
