HORACE POWERS FUNERAL FRIDAYThe funeral of Horace Powers, who died in a Lebanon hospital Tuesday night, was to be held Friday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the Beanblossom mortuary.The death of Horace Powers, one of the most prominent young Democrats in the country and chief deputy clerk of the police courts, was a blow to his host of friends who were expecting his speedy recovery from injuries received in an automobile accident just a week ago. Powers, with his family, had just left Indianapolis on a vacation when the accident happened and one hand and arm was crushed*.The bereaved widow and three children survive.^ Girl Pitcher a WinnerWheeling, W. Va., July S (INS) —Hose Gacioch, 15-year-old schoolgirl, pitched the Little Wheeling Cardinals to an 11-8 victory over a team with boys playing every position. It was her fourth victofy in five stars this season. So far as is known she is the only girl pitcher in this region..to announcement by Judge John W. Kern of Superior Court, Room 1Judge Kern announced his adjourned term would be held from July 18 to 17 and that in addition he will remain in his office for the purpose of hearing emergency matters throughout the month of July.Other courts close July 3 and remain adjourned during July and August.“In order to clear up the docket, I deem it necessary to call an adjourned term because of the crowded condition of the docket when I took office the first of the year,” Judge Kern said.Dockets in other courts, it was , said, are in good condition and despite their clogged condition when the Democratic judges took office they are fairly well up, better than they have been in years.Paderewski to Play at Indiana UniversityBloomington, Ind., July S— (INS) —Ignace Jan Paderewski, world famous pianist and composer, has signed a contract to give a concert at Indiana -University during the coming school year, according to announcement made by Dean X. Winfred Merrill of the t U. School of Music.The' contract calls for Paderewski's appearance here March 16th.
