Attempted MurderTavern Bartender Bruised by BulletCharles Frye, a bartender at Mr. G’s tavern, Harvey, was .shot in the leg by a customer last Thursday evening, police report.Gerald T. Glenn, of East Chicago, Ind., was arrested and charged by police with attempted murder. Frye reported that the was coming from behind the bar to remove Glenn from the premises when Glenn pulled a “blue snub-nosed revolver” and fired two bullets at Frye's legs, one of which struck him in the left thigh.Frye told police that Glenn, a representative of Mueller .Vending company in Blue Island, started an argument with Dino Valente, a representative of Automatic Phone Service, regarding his presence in the tavern. Frye states there was a disagreement about the service the Mueller company had been giving Mr. G’s, which involved “some heated words of argument and some name calling by Glenn.” Police says Frye then attempted to chase Glenn from the premises.WHEN Glenn fired, Frye immediately ceased chasing him, according to police. Glenn allegedly told Frye, “Stop or I’ll blow your head off”, then turned and proceeded out the door.Blue Island police arrested ftlenn at the Mueller Vending Machine company, 12255 Western, Blue Island. At the time of his arrest, police state they took a .22 caliber six-shot revolver from his person. Glenn’s bond was set at $20,000.Criminals Crack Park Pool PumpUnknown vandals wreaked $310 of damage at the Harmon Park pool iast week, police allege.Dale Johnson, a maintenance employee, told police that six times the normal daily amount of diatomite chemical and five times the usual daily portion of soda ash had been dumped into the pump filter units. In addition, a vacuum pump was damaged afer being hurled into the filter.
