WAGNER AND MATES FAIL IN ATTEMPT - TO BREAK OUT OF BLOUNTVILLE JAILAttempted Escape Frustrated By .Jailer Barr Ai'ler lie Goes to Second Floor to Investigate Cause of Disturbance— Tear4 'Cell Door From HingesKinnio Warner, aided by a number of his fellow prisoners, attempted to gain freedom from the Blountville jail yesterday about noon* but theallem-p*; was frustrated ‘by Jailer A. E. Barr, who was attracted to the second floor by the smell of burning rags. He discovered that the prisoners, about 15 in number, had succeeded in lifting one of the cell doors from its hinges and were using it in an effort .to break the bars across one of the windows.After preventing their escape,Jailer Barr placed the prisoners back in their respective cells with little difficulty. Blankets and chains from the. L*ot$ were used to remove the door from its hinges, By heating the door near the middle by means of th0 burning -blankets, and using the chains to bend the -metal, the door was pried off its hinges.The prisoners took advantage of the absence of the guards during the day.
