July 2.—Mrs. Jennie Anderson, aged thirty-three, a Danish woman, is locked up in the police station charged with suspicion in connection wit'h the death of Elsie, her six-year-old step daughter. Kvine, presents one mass of bruises and abrasions in face, head and body, which looks as though made with a nail.Around the neck of the little girl’s body is a wide ring, which looks as if there had been a rope about it.The cfliild had been dead hours before the body was found. The verdict of the coroner Is awaited before a more serious charge than stispicios is placed against the woman.Two years ago Hanna Anderson sent to Denmark for the woman to come here who Is now his wife. His wife had died a short time before, leaving him with four childfen, the youngest of whom is now dead, and the oldest now twelve years of age.So far as could he learned the woman has lived happily with the older children, but not with the youngest. According to her onw story she has Whipped the child with a lash in which there was a nail, a number of times within the past three weeks.
