HILLSDALE “SOCIALI-EVENT” BRINGS ECHOESProsecutor George D. Sunkel camedown from Hillsdale, Monday, where 1he had been directing the judicialaftermath of a little social affair. Mrs. Rona Clark, who has been the queen bee up around Hillsdale since the big incline was discovered, and who is known all the way from Highland down to the brick plant, was the principal figure in the case. Just the other day, she incurred the displeasure of a man named Elisha Pearman and she is not, at this time, as handsome as she was. Mr. Pearman, she claims, operated on her facial beauty with a pair of “knucks” and loosened up a few teeth, and extracted hair enough from her intellectual balcony to stuff an auto seat. She says he also erected a cataract over one of her “lamps” and mussed up her features so that she couldn’t even win the booby prize at a beauty show. She wanted the state to pun-ish Pearman for his alleged lack of j gallantry, and a.warrant for assault'and battery was issued. When Pear-'Jman was brought before Justice of j the Peace “Hi” Casebeer, Monday, | he admitted having jarred Mrs. J Clark more than was in keeping with | Hoosier gallantry and a fine of $1 and costs was assessed. Mrs. Clark, believing this was not a sufficient measure of judicial rebuke, filed another warrant against Pearman, charging him with carrying a concealed weapon. This case is yet to be tried. It is said that Mr. Pearman objected to Mrs. Clark visiting his wife and that Mrs. Clark objected to the objection. Then they quarreled, and then they fought. The woman is the wife of Mnrt Clark, and both she and her husband have figured in court. The husband completed a jail sentence a few months ago for violating the fish law.
