?Which Boone County Ought to Present to One of Her Late Citizen#* W.U. Thompson.Ilt;ersi vs.avejsi-Along some time in the spring or summer of 1882, one AV. H. Thompson, at that time’a resident of this place, quite unexpectedly and suddenly took a notion to go on a visit. lie forgot to notifv even his friends of the time of his departure 01* even where he was going. His going caused considerable commotion in the community. There were quite a number who expressed an anxiety for his return. In fact to such, an extent did this anxiety obtain that authorities took a hand in hunting him up. Finally the sheriff, Tom Davis, was notitied that he was in Toledo. Ohio, The anxiety to again see Mr. Thompson in Lebanon had grown tosuch an extent and the fear that he might not be able to limi his way back had become so great that it was concluded to send .Jacob Cobb,'then deputy sheriff, to escort him back. This was done and Mr. A\\ II. Thompson was again among his friends. For this kindness in going after Mr. T„ and paying his car-fare back the county allowed Sheriff Davis sro. The warrant for the payment of this 800 is No. 5,115 and was issued Oct. 22. AVe suggest that it would be a good idea, now that Mr. Thompson lias left 11s and taken up his abode in Crawfordsville, that the commissinoers ask him to reimburse the county for the money paid in getting him back. The county wouldn't charge him anything for the anxiety expressed in the case.aitrMgithbtw;r
