First St., Oil City, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan 29, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.Bom April 22, 1914, in Oil City, he was the son of Joseph and Theresa Russo Amore.Mr. Amore was a 1932 graduate of Oil City Senior High School, and he retired in 1978 as a lathe operator with Oilwell Supply after 38 years of service.Iln his earlier years. Mr. Amore was a Piper Cub pilot and wasone of the original members of a local flying club. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and the Silver Wings Flying Association.He enjoyed his home, children and grandchildren.Mr. Amore was a member ofSt. Stephen Church in Oil CityHe was married June 18, 1949, in St. Joseph Church, Oil City, to the former Mary V McGum, whopreceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2002.Surviving are five children. Joseph Amore and his wife, Mary, of Seven Fields, William T. Amore and his wife, Robin, of Titusville. Nicholas M. Amore of Oil City, who made his home with his father after the death of Mrs. Amore, Katherine M Drelick and her husband, Mark, of Oil City, and Susan C. Amore of State College; three grandchildren, Paula and Joseph Drelick of Oil City, and Isabella Amore of Titusville; three step-grandchildren, Tim, Justin and Stephen Wright of Titusville; two sisters-in-law, Sally Carone of Meadville and Mary McGum of Clarion; and severalAlbert S. “Jake Amorenieces and nephews.Mr. Amore was preceded in death by three brothers, Nicholas Burke and Dorena and Albert Amore; and four sisters, Conget-ta Farletta, Isabella Anziano, Chris DeNucci and Mary Gianvi-to.Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Reinsel Funeral Home, Oil City.Mass of Christian Bunal will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Mondayat St. Stephen Church with the Rev. Jeffery J. Noble, St Stephen pastor, presiding.Interment will follow at Calvary CemeteryThe family suggests memorials be made to the VNA Hospice Center, 176 E. Bissell Ave., Oil City; or Venango Catholic High School.
