I-.MAN CHARGED IN DEATH OF INFANTThe Register'* Iowa News ServiceSIOUX CITY, IA. — Sioux City police charged Jeff Dicus, 19, with murder Friday in the death of a 15-month-old chUd who was dead on arrival ;at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital here.Dicus was in the Sioux City jail Fri-jj day night in lieu of $20,000 bond.e Dr. Thomas Coriden, Woodbury Coun-6 ty Medical Examiner, identified thechild as Sunshine Kissinger.Coriden said the child died from, a s massive brain hemorrhage due to mui-® tiple contusions. He said the autopsyr §also revealed multiple bruises and g small cuts about the1 body and legs of the girl.Coriden identified the mother as Mrs. Ava Kissinger, whom Coriden said is. in her early twenties.e Dicus is not related to the child,police said.Kissinger, Coriden said, told him that she, a younger sister and a friend .. whom she identified as Dicus, went out11 Thursday night to buy two puppies. Shesaid she later left Dicus with the child at the molile home where she lives while she went to her sisters home.n Dr. Coriden said Dicus told him the.{ child fell and struck her head on ad coffee table and that he picked theo child up and comforted her, giving hera a piece of bread, and the child died.e Dicus and Kissinger told Coriden thechild twice fell from a bunk bed earlier e this week. Coriden said Kissinger toldO' him she was in the process of gettinga divorce and that he did not know where the child’s father was.
