ANNAPOLIS.Sunday I a ft his Excellency our Governor fet out on a Vi jit to Baltimore-Town, avhere on Monday he tv as received by a Company of Foot under Arms, the Firing of Great Guns, Difplaying of Colours,and many other Tokens of Joy and RefpeB; and inthe Evening there were Dances, Fire IVorks, itc and this Day his Excellency returned home to thisCity in good Health. 1We hear from Q«een Anne’s County, that on aMonday, a few Weeks ago, at a private Tippling Houfe on Coefter River, a Number of People met on a Shooting Match, which they turn'd into a Drinking Match, and held it 'til the Thurfday { during vohich Time, they detain'd one Thomas Watts, a \ young fimple Man, of vohont they made (vohat they call d) Diverfion, by pulling, fujking, and tumbling him about, and playtng many foolijb, mad, and devil's jb Tricks voith him, by vohich he was much bruifed and hurt j and being much ftupified be fell into the Chimney Corner, vohtn they jwept the Soot upon his Face, and then flung Water on him ; one of the Company, vohtn he felt upon the Hearth with his bare Knees, put a Fire-Brand between them, which burnt him in a terrible Manner, when he had neither Strength nor Senft to get from it, or to pujh it from him. When they had, Devil like, taken Pleafttre in Tormenting, for near Three Days, there came in one Man, who took him away, and carried him home to his Mother, where he died mlmoft as foon as they could lay him in his Bed, bis Body being all over Wounds, Bruifes and Burns. The Coroner's Inqueft had had three Meetings (and the Magiftrates were very indujhious to find out the hellijh Authors J, but their Determination vac have not yet beard.
