Casey ResignsAs Police ChiefEVANSVILLE (Special)— George Walk, Evansville police officer since 1930, is acting chief ofpolice following the resignation of Police Chief John Casey Thursday. Appointment of Walk as chief will he voted uDon after a 90-day probationary period.Vern P. Worthing, chairman of Evansville’s Police and Fire Commission, said Casey’s resignation was for “special reasons. He said Casey was dissatisfied with his job and “the commissioin felt that the dissatisfaction was m u t u a 1.” Worthing said Casey “made up his mind to resign. and that the com- , mission “allowed him to do so.”Casey was a member of the police force since December. 1947, and became chief June 1, 1951.
