Flynn Trial Nearing CloseState Produces jRebuttal Witnesses sHOLLYWOOD — lt;U.E— Holly-wood's luridest trial—and in some respects its wierdest—neared its end today as the state called rebuttal witnesses to the story ot Errol Flynn, who claimed he never, touched the two teen-age girls accusing him of satuatory rape.The* trial, now rounding on its; third week, brought statements otj Peggy Satterlee, 16, and Betty Hansen, ~17, who spared no details in charging that Flynn attacked them.Flynn’s lawyers went into tbej character of the'girls, introduced testimony to indicate that Miss Satterlee’s rent had been paid by a 43-year-oJd admirer and produced witnesses to tell hoto Miss Hansen had accepted favors from a series of men; /Then the lawyers sat Flynn in the witness stand.The wavy-haired Flynn nad circles under his eyes which almost matched his dark' suit. He said, no-no-no-no-no and another no to ascore of questions by his attorney, Jerry Giesler.The queries related to the testimony of the girls, themselves. When Giesler had finished them, and turned Flynn over to the prosecution, there wasn’t much for the state’s lawyer, John Hcpkins, to askHe made a vigorous effort, nonetheless. He succeeded in making sweat ^tand out on' Flynn's brow and in penetrating the actor's calm, but he did ot succeed in gaining any admissions from him. When he had completed his cresp examination Giesler stated that the defense had rested—with reservations.
