Clyde Campbell, auto mechanic road *nlt;* *-he man whf drove thetomobile for the three bandits on their trip from East Liverpool Brilliant and in their wild ride from Brilliant to Steubenville an effort to escape after the robbery', is to be arraigned today and will doubtless be held under like bond,The arrest of Robert Hutton was brought about, it is said, thru a statement made by Campbell to Prosecuting Attorney Stan to Pearce yesterday. When first a rested Campbell said there were three men with him but later insisted there were only two, shield* ing Robert Hutton for some rear s-on. Yesterday however under close questioning he revealed the name of the fourth man and his arrest at his home in East Liverpool.Robert Hutton, the authorities say, is the man who planned the holdup. He., lived as a neighbor Mr. Hukill for a dumber of years, was familiar with his bustness and days of collection and also with the merchant’s, habit of going through an alley to go home in the evening. Hutton haB several times recently borrowed money from Mr. Hukill and knew thata the grocer usually, had considerable money on his person. After Robert Hutton had rfut-lined his holdup plan to his broth’ er Charles and James Brighouse they encounteredr considerable difficulty on inducing Campbell to loin tbem as tbeir driver. It is understood that Me was finally won over with a premise of $500 his share of the money, thean18~ “***v iuumrzyt liicjHuttons expecting to get at least $2,00(1 from Mr. Hukill. The original plan was to waylav Mr. Hukill in the alley back of his home, toss him into the waiting auto, rob him of his money and then throw him from the machine at some convenient spot. This plan was spoiled when the merchant entered his home by the front way, necessitating one of the thugs following him onto the porch. As soon as Mr. and Mrs. Hukill faced the prisoners In Justice Downer’s court last night they Identified Charier Hutton as tho man who struck Mr. Hukill doHvn, the other three men remaining in the dark while Charles exposed himself under the porch light. Ho had to strike twice with the lead filled hose before felling his victim and in that brief time, his victim and Mrs. Ifultlll got a good look at him and identified him without trouble. Charles Hutton as chosen to do the slugging because his brother Ronertiwaa so well known to Mr, HukillAfter the robbery, Charles Button and Brighouse leaped into the machine which had been kept waiting by Campbell and the desperate effort to escape, during which they run through a fusst-lade of bullets at Georges Run Mingo Junction was made. Robert Hutton however, did Dot accompany them but remained in Brilliant, confident that he wag above suspicion in the job until the next day when he .returned to East iverpool and went back to work tho pottery,Roy Burson, owner of the au-mobiie used by the bandits and several others w'ere here today ron East Liverpool in connection with the case.
