Not Guilty Plfca Is Entered In Morals CaseSuperior Court Judge Jay A. Rabinowitz ordered that a plea of not guilty be entered in the case of Joseph 0. Kagonaluk, a Barrow Eskimo charged with the statutory rape of a 4-year-old girl.Kagonaluk had previously-been arraigned on the charge in Home but Judge Rabinowitz ordered him to be re-arraigned as he was not satisfied the man could understand the proceeding. , . .A previous hearing in the matter here was 'continued while officials sought an interpreter with the Barrow dialect.Bill Amaruk, a Barrow interpreter,-assisted in court to-dav but some difficulty was ex- : perienced in trying to relate; the technical indictment to the: defendant.Phrase by phrase the indictment was read by a clerk and interpreted to the defendant.Afterward, he was questiorfed by the counsel and the court.The defendant was asked to repeat the charge but he replied, “I don't feet like talking.”
