When Mrs. Uinkley had been poudedsufficiently to suit .Joe for the time, she succeeded in getting away and hastened to the office of Recorder Roberts where she tiled a complaint for assault and battery. Judge Roberts notified Sheriff Simpson, who had in mind the request of the Kalkaska authorities. No warrant was issued on the complaint of Mrs. Hinkley, but the sheriff sought Hinkley out on the West Side and lodged him in jail where he was i held until notice could be sent to Kalkaska. with the result noted.Hinkley has been a noted character in this city for several years and it was utterly impossible for him to keep out of trouble. He is an habitual drunkard, and not long ago Mrs. Hinkley sued Wencel Sleder, the West SideIsaloon keeper, for selling liquor to him. She secured a judgment of $200. Since that time Joe has been very scarce hereabouts and if the charge of larceny can be sustained he will be still more scarce for some time to come.
