Allison PresidedThe meeting was presided over by Reuben Vllison, president fit flu* Chamber of Commerce, and Mrs. Mabel Norman, secretary for the chamber. It was agreed that Mrs. Norman and Mr Allison should count tlie votes and keep the secret of who the winners are.Candidates were selected on the basis of contributions they had made to the general welfare of the community. The service they ren-, ddred had to he non-remunerative,non-sectarian and non-political. A nominee had to be over 2ft yearsof age.In a letter to the various clubs making requests for nominations, the reason for selecting a man and woman of the year was explainedthus:''We have men and women who are contributing their time and energy to the improvement of Liberty without recognition. Let’s rec-ognize some of thene people for tinsoutstanding contribution.”
