Superintendent Eugene Cunningham was badly used up. The men had been employed by Fogg Scribe ner, railroad contractors. For some reason some of them were discharged yesterday and in turn endeavored to persuade their fellow workmen to quit.The latter refused and a battle followed, in which stones, picks and shovels were used freely. Superintendent Cunningham received several cuts on the head. Chief Wier, of the police force of this city, visited the scene of the riot this afternoon and succeeded in arresting fourteen of the Hungarians, who are now in the Altoona prison.
