Vener Begins Life Sentence•SANTA FE. N.M. (UPlj - A former Hobbs man has begun serving a life sentence in the state penitentiary for a 1967murder he confessed to while ina Texas prison.In a statement witnessed by a cellmate, Cecil Ray Rinehart, 43, confessed the slaying of pioneei Hobbs businessman Philip Vener.On Pec. 8th, 1969, Rinehart repeated his prison cell confes.sion in District Court atCovington. He admitted he submerged vener in the e’.ierly man’s bathroom repeatedly in an effort to make him reveal the location of roone} in Vener's house. jVener’s body was four.d in the bathtub with tape across hismouth. Rinehart completed a robbery sentence a prison at Huntsville, Tex*, last week. !
