Desherlia being held for Wever bank robberyFORT MADISON- A detainer, or hold order, has been issued for a former Lee County man being held in St Augustine. Fla on a murder charge. The order, issued by U S. Magistrate Judge William Scott in Burlington, is for Thomas Edward Desherlia. 30. charging him in connection with the robbery of the Farmers Savings Bank in Wever on Dec. 20. 1974According to Sheriff Don Arnold. who requested the detainer on Desherlia. warrants have been issued for two other persons believed to have been involved in the bank robbery at Wever They are James Edwin Desherlia. 34. brother of Thomas, and RichardBernard Lindhorst, Jr . about 33. The whereabouts of the last two are not known The Desherlias formerly lived on Orleans \ve in Keokuk, and also in Fort Madison Desherlia was wounded in a gun battle with sheriff s deputies in St Austine about two weeks ago. He is alleged to have killed one of the deputies following a traffic accident A second deputy shot Desherlia. who was alone at the time Desherlia was treated at a local hospital for his wound The warrants issued for the three men were the culmination of an intensive investigation by the Lee County sheriff's office, the Iowa Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the FBI.
