WROTE HiS CONFESSION.Staaback, After Strong Dcni'nf, Tells oi IlfsAttempted Assuult.(Social Dispatch to The Times.)N Oil FOLK, VA-, January i!:j.— NealStanbaclc, the cightoen-year-o!d negro, who assaulted aged Mrs. Priefer, in Norfolk county, last Saturday night and who is to be hanged for Inn crime on March 1-th. has confessed, after ho had strenuously denied being the guilty party. The confession was made last night in the county, jail. Stan back wrote his confession, which states that ho. committed the crime that lie was tfrunK at the time and that ho had been arrested but once before. Stanbaclc asks t:ie people to pray for him and states that he has made his peace with his Maker. Stanback has asked to see his parents and two ministers, says he is prepared to die. When the young negro is executed there .will be a limited number of people to- see him hanged for fear of a. demonstration.The Old Dominion Steamship Company has awarded a contract to the Newport News Ship-Building Company for the building of a palace vessel to ply between here and New York. I He cost of the new vessel will be 5000,000. The new ship will be UC6 feet in length, 46 feet beam and have a gross tonnage of 4,200.
