Charles had his hands full for a short time and desiring to cut off every escape, he arranged for two parties, Fred Gilley and Dr. Zobrist to guard the south end road to the south. A train pulled over the crossing just before the boys got there and delayed them just a couple minutes, or just enough that the robbers got in their car and sped south. The Parks farm was called and Walter got his Case car ready for % dash to follow them. On the passing of the Ford car, he took in pursuit and picked up his hired man McKiney, they sped south. They over took and passed the Ford just before they reached the Sandoval Y. Walter found his gasoline tank about empty and dropped his hired man at the Y to watch which way they went, while he went into Sandoval after gas. Walter Parks is to be highly commended for his assistance as others locally. As for Walter, it is a lucky chance for him, that they did not stick him up and take the big Case car and get away with it as now days, there is nothing unbelievable.
