The general supposition is that he has been murdered and searching parties and officers have been engaged in trying to locate the missing man. Two arrests have been made and -some evidence gathered wonld tend to convict the parties arrested. There has been some talk of the people abont Newport taking the law in their own hands but theJournal has learned of no such rash action of this kind.Mr. Nice married a stepdaughter of Solomon Tingley, of Democrat township, and his relatives in this county are awaiting with deep anxiety the developments in the case as they occur from day to day.
