Former county chief judge named assistant prosecutorFormer Will County Chief Judge Charles P. Connor has been made a special assistant prosecutor, State’s Attorney James Glasgow said Friday.Connor was sworn in on Thursday morning.“I made a special commitment during my campaign for the office of state’s attorney to convene a special grand jury to investigate public corruption. Charlie Connor brings with him a historical perspective on local corruption that w'ill prove invaluable in helping me fulfill my commitment,” Glasgow said in a written statement.“Our initial conferences, wherein we’ve compared notes on various issues, have been very productive. We both have a commitment to restore public trust because we’ve personally watchedas questionable activities have gone uninvestigated,” according to Glasgow,“After two years, I am finally in a position to fulfill my promise to the people of Will County. Also, the law now permits me to have two grand juries impaneled, which I have done. I plan to finally answer the questions that have been raised continuously since 1976, said the state’s attorney.According to Glasgow, Connor “broke awav from the Tezak faction of the Republican Party” in 1988 and lost his primary bid for the office of state s attorney.“Charlie made the same pledge in 1988, as I made in 1992, to shatter the status quo and hold corrupt public officials accountable for the first time in Will County,” Glasgow stated.
