April 16.—An excited mob fought the officers clear on to an interurban car at Hartshorn at 5 o’clock this evening trying to get Mike Zanone in connection with the shooting of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Oeorge Voss, and her 17-year-old daughter. Miss Willie.Zanone left here this afternoon and went to the Voss house at Harts-horne to see his divorced wife and baby. His wife refused to talk to him and went into another room, when, he says, the two women seized him to throw him outdoors and the shooting took place. Both wo-j men were killed instantly. Later officers found him and he exchanged shots with them and ran toward a barn. There he was shot behind the ear with a load of bird shot. He then fought hard and was handcuffed and the mol) threatening, the trainmen notified the train dispatcher’s office and received orders not to go to the end of the line, but lo turn back toward McAlester at once. The officers managed to get the man on the car after a hard struggle with the mob.He is in jail here and his wound dressed. The doctor says he will live. There is still much excitement over the affair loth here and at Harts-horne.The young woman killed would have graduated in June*at the Harts-horne High school.
