CartervilleInvoluntary manslaughter charge to be filed in shootingA charge of involuntary manslaughter will be filed against Kenneth McKinney, 22, Carterville, in the death of a 13-year-old boy, Williamson County State’s Atty. Kenneth Hubler said Saturday,Charles Edward Haynes, 13, of 112 Locust St,, Carterville, was dead on arrival at Herrin Hospital Friday from a .22-caliber revolver slug through the bridge of the nose.McKinney is held in the county jail at Marion pending arraignment in Circuit Court Monday, according to Hubler.The shooting occurred at the trailer home of Ronald McKinney, 21, brother of Kenneth McKinney, at 500 Missouri Ave., o Carterville, between 10:30 and o 10:45 a.m. Friday, Hubler said, r- McKinney said the youth, sitting in a chair, made a grab for the pistol which McKinneyjrvonce\K:1Arthur GodfreyIllinois’ sesquicentennial play, ‘Make Her Wilderness Like Eden” will be part of the afternoon’s program, Biggers said. They said later they were scared and decided to make up that story.The youth apparently had been staying at the trailer for about three days after differences at home.Coroner Paul Litton - is to conduct an autopsy and inquest.Involuntary manslaughter is defined by statute as a person killing another without lawful justification by performing an act likely to cause death recklessly. The penalty prescribed by law is 1 to 10 years in prison.Services for the Haynes boy will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Riggin Funeral Home in Carterville.Charles Edward was born March 11, 1954, in Carmi.
