“DUTCH” VOIGHTcPAYS FINE FORSMUGGLING RUMHouston, Tex., Jan. 20.—TUP)— Oscar E. (Dutch) Voigt of Galveston pleaded guilty to a rum smuggling indictment before Federal Judge T. M. Kennerly here today and paid a $5000 fine. United States Attorney W. M. Holden, who had agreed to recommend the fin©, thendismissed cases against others indicted with Voigt in the last of the rum running cases on the federal docket hero.Twenty-seven men were indicted In the case lost March 3 One other defendant, August Carillo of Canada, paid a $2000 fine Oct. 3.George Musey, once called the king of the gulf rum runners and now serving time on two other eases at the federal prison in Atlanta, was one of those charged with Voigt.Customs officers claimed Voigt was Musey’s lieutenant.Federal court attaches said Voigt was very- wealthy and estimated his bank account at from $500,000 to $2,000,000.
