By BEVERLY McCARLEY Globe-News Staff Writer No arrests had been made last night in connection with the rape-murder of 20-year-old Bernice Stefanie Kuhlman, formerly of Canyon, who was found dead Saturday near Tulsa, Oklo. Authorities in Creek and Tulsa coun ties say they are by no means at a standstill in the case. Creek County Sheriff Brice Coleman said, ‘there is still one man who we think was involved with her that we have not been able to locate. At this point we just want to talk with him.”” Authorities have talked with several men who knew Miss Kuhlman, but none of them has been held. Miss Kuhlman’s nude body was found Saturday in Pole Cat Creek near the Tulsa Creek county line. Officers said it appeared the body had been thrown from a bridge into the creek. Two hunters came upon the body ly ing face down in the almost dry creek bed. A sock had been tied around the dead woman's neck. An autopsy by State Medical Ex aminers in Oklahoma showed cause of death was by strangulation. Police said Miss Kuhlman had been dead between 6 and 12 hours when the hunters found her. Deputies in Tulsa say they have questioned several of the woman's friends and uncovered a number of routine leads and one coin cidence—Miss Kuhlman was killed sometime Friday night, after the University of Tulsa lost a basketball game there to West Texas State Univer sity. Officers said they were checking the possibility of connections between the game and the murder. Services for Miss Kuhlman will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Canyon with the Rev. David Heidtke, pastor of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church of Amarillo, and the Rev. Lewis Castens, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery east of Canyon by Schooler- Gordon Funeral Directors. Miss Kuhlman was born in Canyon and attended Canyon public schools. She was a member of National Honor Society at Canyon High School, where she graduated in 1973. She graduated from Braniff Ticket Agent School in Dallas in 1975, and moved to Tulsa a few months ago. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kuhlman; one brother, Martin of the home; one sister, Mrs. Monika James of Canyon; and her grandmother, Mrs. Alma Kuhlman of Canyon. The family requests memorials be to the Bernice Kuhlman Memorial Fund for Rape Crisis Services Center, 618 S. Polk, Amarillo, or to a favorite charity. BERNICE KUHLMAN
