After staging their robbery the i bandit gang hurried from the building. got into a waiting automobile end «ped away from the city. The robbery required approximately ; thirty minutes to complete.; Employees of the bank were i locked in a vault by the bandits and later released when their cries attracted passorsby who succeeded in removing the vault door from its hinges to free the prisoners.Earlier in the week the Dillinger gang was charged with robbing the First National Bank of East Chicago. Ind.. in which $20,000 was taken and a policeman killed when the gunmen were forced to shoot their way out of the building.
