The police authori ties Admit the existence of the gambling dens and disorderly houses. , That issue is therefore joined between the ministers and the borough authorities. The ministers have the locations of the gambling dens, and the names of their several pro-1 prietors; fche location of the disorderly abuses and the names of their managers and finally, these ministers have the names of the owners of’the several properties now prostituted to the uses of gamblers and lt;disreputable women. Therefore it would seem that the ministers are equipped for a finish fight with two of the town’8 worst evils. The merchants of Greensharg and the hotel keepers of the town have combined in a protest to the counoil in which they declare, as their petition recites, that— ‘’The public peace and ordinary quiet of our borough have for months been assaulted and the lives of many of onr people have been jeopardized by a band of recklpss ruffians, who have been securing protection behind the pretense that they are striking miners.’’-Greens-bnrg Press.Sure the above is a sad condition for a city like Greensburg, or indeed any other city. A smaller town ip the saiqe county, it is alleged, is unsafe for a woman tc be out alone after night* There ought to be the right kind of police force engaged to “clean up” such places.A Jekvll-'Hvtltt CaiiP.
