On Wed- r I nesday evening last some young men, j in passing the graveyard, noticed that j the grave had been disturbed and on approaching discovered that the boby had been taken. A hole was found dug at the head of the grave, and the body had evidently been pulled out with a hook fastened to the head. The clothes had been placed back in the grave.The course of the robbers was easily j traced across the fields and along the track. Pieces of flesh large as a man’s hand were seen on cornstalks and rocks over which the body had been dragged, j At the road was seen the track of two carriages, one leading toward Spring Hills and the other toward Urbana. Nothing could be found by parties in search of the robbers but a small piece of molding which had been broken from the body of a carriage. This was taken to the livery stables in Bellefon-taine and Urbana, but to no purpose.On Saturday evening the parties arrived at West Liberty, and upon going to the livery stable of Steelman Kelley found the carriage to which the piece of molding belonged. The proprietors asking for a name, one was given as James Hamshire. Mr. Kelley recognized this man as a college { mate of his brother from the Medical pj, College at Columbus. Hamshire was -present at the funeral of young Jones and had gone to Columbus on Monday, j When the two men who had hired the carriage arrived at the depot on Tuesday evening the baggage-master j v\ unchecked a large empty trunk. In c” the morning the same trunk was sitting off some distance from the platform. Upon attempting to carry it as lie had in the evening he found it very heavy, and required help to place it upon the truck.The thieves are as yet uncaptured.
