George La France, as the latter was trying to force his way into the Rogers home.Two years ago La France ran away with Rogers' fifteen-year-old daughter. The girl soon left him on account of ill treatment and returned to her father’s home.La France appeared at the Rogers/ home and demanded to see his wife. When he was denied the privilege and ordered to leave he broke down the doo.* and forced his way into the room.Rogers placed the muzzle of an old army musket to the breast of his son-, in-law* and pulled the trigger. The charge tore a great hole in the man’s body, killing him instantly.Rogers gave himself up to the officers, but they did not send him to jail. A year ago he was married to a young woman in Crawfordsville, Ind.
