Judge Hyatt, of Nichols, was in Owcgo and at the store of Robert Cameron, lie was met by Barney Chaffv, who drives a wagon in this village. Barney, it is said, was | intoxicated. His wagon had lieeu broken a few days ago by a teamster of Judge Hyatt’s, am» w^° accidentally ran his wagon into it. Bar-hrce ncy attacked the Judge about the injury to s on his wagon, and, being drunk, the Judge did not pay much attention to him. This enraged him, and he suddenly drew a stake from his j wagon and struck the Jndge above the car, edi- cutting a horrid gash in his head. The extent and danger of the injury is not vet fully known.
