MotiveHIGHLAND, 111. - UPI -Authorities believe robberywas the motive for the shooting deaths of a wealthy Highland farmer and his wifeearly Sunday.Madison County Sheriff .John Maeras said James Winet, 4(i, was found dead behind the wheel of his car parked along Illinois Route160, several blocks north of his farm home. His wife, Betty, 41, was found lying in a ditch near the rear of the auto with her head partly submerged inwater.Maeras said Winet was shot twice through the head from behind. Mrs. Winet was shot twice in the chest, once in theleft thigh, and onee in the lefttemple. She also was cut onthe left arm.Police were called by amotorist who id he saw Mrs.Winet crouched behind the car and heard her cry for help as he drove by.Maeras said Winet had been known to carry large sums of money. His wallet waswmissing as well as Mrs. Winet’s purse and some diamond rings she was known to have been wearing.
